October 4th – 10th was National Amputee awareness week in Australia. Coinciding with that week was the annual AOPA Congress, this year held in the Crown Promenade, Melbourne.
The AOPA Congress is a great opportunity for businesses and practitioners in the Prosthetics & Orthotics industries of Australia to get together, see what’s new, share learning’s, and of course catch up with a few familiar faces.
For Form Prosthetics, this was our second AOPA congress and our first since having completed the design of our range of Custom cosmetic & protective covers for lower limb prostheses. At last year’s event, also in Melbourne, we went along with some of our late design stage prototypes and gained great feedback from the Prosthetists present which allowed us to finish off the designs incorporating those opinions.
This year, it was great to return to the congress with the completed products and spend some time with the now more familiar faces. Additionally, we again brought along some prototypes, this time of a second product line. This new line being non-custom product that we anticipate launching early 2018. This new product we hope will make these covers more available to all amputees across the country. We’ll be giving updates on this product in later articles or via our mail outs, so register your interest here to stay informed.
Also keep your eye out here and on our social media over the coming weeks for more news as Form’s custom covers feature later this month in The Netherlands as a part of Dutch Design Week thanks to our Print partner, Shapeways. A preview can be found here.
